FORMER Chief whip of the senate, Senator Rowland Owie, warned, yesterday, against any move to split the votes of the people of South South, and stressed the need for the region to vote in bloc for President Goodluck Jonathan with a view to realising the dreams of the people of the region.
Senator Owie who spoke while reacting to the nomination of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), said though Chief Oyegun is a respected son of the South South, the people would prefer having their own as president now to vice president.
“Jonathan is God’s hand work to Nigerians and we must answer to the call of the Most High all the time”, he said, adding Oyegun is one of our respectable leaders but no body will like to go for Silver and leave Gold. For the 2011 elections in Nigeria , the Gold for the South South is President Goodluck Jonathan. So I call on all South South indigenes in all works of life and political parties to vote for Jonathan at the general elections. After all, the sophisticated South West did it in 2003.
