Even as investors continue to scamper for the next available space to put up structures in Computer Village popularly called Otigba market, it has been affirmed that the much talked about relocation of the market remains non-negotiable.

The Assistant Secretary-General of Computer and Allied Products Association of Nigeria, CAPDAN, Mr. Godwin Enemoh disclosed this to Cyberlife in Ikeja during an interview.

He disclosed the government determination to relocate the market to the proposed permanent site at Kotangowa in Ijaye local government  area of the state, as agreed by the two parties, and dismissed speculations making rounds in some quarters that the plan had been shelved.

Though, the planned relocation may not affect existing market, he maintained that the plan would be carried out as soon as the new site is completed.

“We have been in touch with the government over the issue. I can assure you that the project is real and with the level of progress made so far, there is no way government can abandon the project,” he affirmed.

With the completion of the project, he said that the proposed new market would not only de-congest the existing one and stem the tide of street trading in Ikeja but would also offer traders the opportunity to open more outlets in the area. He further affirmed the determination of CAPDAN to work in partnership with the government and security agencies to maintain peace and order in the market.

Meanwhile, in another development, one of the major technology companies and manufacturer of mobiles, Samsung Technology has announced plans to introduce 10-inch tablet phones tagged “Galazy Tab 2. The novel product according to a statement will be a successor to the galaxy tab.

Unlike the 7-inch Galaxy Tab that is currently available, this next version will be of the 10-inch variety and run google’s new made-for-tablets honeycomb and Android software.

Despite the tablet’s larger screen size, the product is said to be thinner and lighter than the current Samsung Galaxy Tab and physically smaller than the iPad. The tablet according to the statement will feature a dual-core Qualcomm chip and an 8-megapixel camera. — Emmanuel Elebeke
