Nigerians are known to acquire high-end mobile phones with dexterity, which invariably makes the Nigerian mobile market the most sought after by major mobile phone manufacturers and vendors in the world.
Based on this, Nokia said it’s deploying Nokia 2690 to the market, a new handset tagged Ovi life tools, capable of giving users information on agriculture, entertainment, weather, health care and education after subscription.
However, as mobile phones become increasingly sophisticated in recent years, Nigerian consumers struggle to keep up with technological advancement of phones.
In recent times, mobile phone subscription in Nigeria rose to 81 million from 100,000 in 2002, confirmed a statistics.
Today, the cut-throat competition to undo one another and be the brand of choice among millions of mobile phone users has kept manufacturers on their toes as they churn out breath-taking handsets.
“Nokia 2690 is simple to operate and capable of doing what other big phones in the market can do.” This was how Moses Effiong described the new phone when Vangurad met him at the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.
Meanwhile, on the competition to outdo one another and become a choice brand, phone users have kept a tab on manufacturers to put them on their toes, even as manufacturers tickle consumers with new models of their devices in rapid succession, which eventually brought Nokia 2690 to the market.
It is a fact that a growing number of phone users in Nigeria define their personality by the brand and model of phone they use.
The new phone in this regard unlike other phones which were manufactured just to aid voice calls and text messages, modern cell phones are modelled to suit various lifestyles.
Nokia, the industry leader is partnering with Airtel and Glo, while arrangement with MTN is on-going, the company said.
Further more, with Nokia 2690, and a 6.6mb inbuilt capacity, radio, camera, opera mini and other accessories, a user can access the internet instantly, as it is devoid of long process. A consumer can easily be deceived as a result of the simplicity of the phone.
