Magistrate Aminu Abdullahi of the Abuja magistrate court in Zone II, has ordered that a transporter, who allegedly stabbed a man, Eji Mallu with a kitchen knife over argument on a mattress be remanded in prison custody.

The Magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody till March 1, when his bail application would be considered by the court.

He gave the order after the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence and applied for bail, which was opposed by the prosecutor.

Tony Ngene was arraigned for causing bodily harm, an offence punishable under Section 243 of the Penal Code.

Earlier, the police Prosecutor, Monday Akor, informed the court that on February 15, the complainant reported to the police that he went to the accused person’s house where he formerly resided to collect his mattress and the accused refused to give it to him.

He said instead, the accused stabbed him with a kitchen knife on neck and left side of his chest, adding that the complainant was rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where is currently receiving treatment. He added that the cost of the treatment is yet unknown.
