FORMER Governor of Oyo State, Chief Rashidi Ladoja has accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of masterminding the destruction of his campaign billboards in Ibadan metropolis.
Ladoja, who opted out of the PDP after he claimed all entreaties he made to be recognized by the national leadership of the party failed, is now the governorship candidate of the Accord Party.
He said the pulling down of his billboards and tearing of his posters was the height of political intolerance and that it would not deter the people of the state from voting out the present government.
The ex-governor, said in a statement by the Director General of his campaign, Mr. Adeolu Adeleke, that there was no amount of political antagonism that would erase Ladoja’s goodwill from the minds of the people.
He argued that the action would further endeared the people to his candidature and coupled with the fact that Akala-led administration had allegedly failed woefully in justifying the resources that accrued to the state, the people of the state would not vote for him.
He stated that “The Ladoja campaign organisation has expressed displeasure over the attitude of some disgruntled politicians within the fold of the PDP towards the gubernatorial candidate of Accord Party, Senator Ladoja. At different times, Ladoja’s billboards in Sango market, Gbagi-Alakia road and several posters were destroyed. This is the height of political intolerance and an indication that Akala has not done well for the people.
Why should he target the posters and billboards of Ladoja? The organisation sees this attitude as barbaric and idiotic. The Ladoja campaign organisation wants the people of Oyo State to vote out the Otunba Akala led government which is characterised with corruption.”
