The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Goodluck Nanah Opiah, has said he had no reason to embark on unwarranted hostility against the ambition of Chief Achike Udenwa and his new political party, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
The clarification became expedient, following insinuations from Udenwa’s associates that the speaker was instrumental to the recent near-manhandling of the former governor by youths in his Abacheke, Egbema, country home.
Reacting on behalf of Chief Opiah, his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kelechi Mejuobi, said his boss was not perturbed by the alleged successes of any political party’s campaign in his constituency.
He said: “Despite not being in Abacheke, Egbema, when Chief Udenwa was allegedly assaulted by angry youths when the former governor recently visited the area, the speaker will never employ or engage the services of any person(s) to disrupt legitimate activities of any political party or politician.”
Stating that Opiah held Udenwa in high esteem, the CPS also insisted that the speaker had no axe to grind with the former governor because they enjoyed cordial relationship and were not seeking for the same elective position in the April general polls.
