Edo State Head of Service, Dr. Simon Imuekheme has said that he is voluntarily retiring from the public service of Edo State .
Dr. Imuekheme gave the clarification Monday at a briefing at the Government House, Benin City.
According to the Hos, “I called you this morning to clear the air as regards my notice of voluntary retirement from the service. What has happened is that having served for five years and nine months in office, I felt I should give opportunity for others to aspire to the office and consequently, I briefed the governor who graciously accepted my intention.”
Continuing, Dr Imoukheme said,” thereafter, I gave a month notice to Edo State government to retire from the public service at the end of February 2011. So it is not an issue of resignation as some media houses carried. I have put in about 31 years from service, there was no way I could resign from the service.”
The out going Hos expressed joy at the quality of the state public service, saying, “I am part of the team and I have done my best to ensure that the train is on course and I will continue to support this administration.
