Elsewedy Electric to contribute to power development

Elsewedy Electric, a leading manufacturer of electrical products in Nigeria, has said it is prepared to contribute its quota to battle the epileptic power supply situation in the country, while also creating more job opportunities for Nigerians.

The company’s Marketing Specialist, Ms. Dina Hamdin, told Vanguard in Lagos that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, over 70 percent of its staff are Nigerians and are presently in partnership with the Lagos State Government.

She said the company is presently engaged in creating awareness of its presence in the country, saying, “We want to have brand awareness for our customers here in Nigeria, as the first transformer manufacturer here in the country. We produce here in this country from our facilities located in Agbara, Ogun State.

She said that by manufacturing its equipment in Nigeria, Elsewedy is also helping to create job opportunities for young graduates and professionals in the country. “We are basically here to expand our facility and at the same time, find a way to participate and provide support to the government on issues that concern the power sector, as the government also has the intention to improve the energy sector of the economy,” she said.

She also added “Our main participation is in the production of  these transformers and besides, we are providing our services in different sectors with the provision of all kinds of power accessories like the insulators and inductors, which are used in the substations as well as measurement meters that is in high demand here in Nigeria, and digital or pre_payment meters which gives the personal advantage of controlling electricity consumption.”

Hamdin noted that Elsewedy is the only company that manufactures transformers in Nigeria and also has an official commissioning factory, which produces according to international standard.

According to her, “We have the latest technique machinery and we use the best quality in raw materials, all coming from Europe and we have also acquired approval from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, which gives credibility to our factory and products.

Being the first and the only manufacturing company of electrical product here in Nigeria, it gives us a very convenient delivery terms and we provide good delivery within a short period of time.”

With additional success, she said the company is hoping to increase its investments in Nigeria, saying, “We have only one factory here in this country and we are planning on expanding our factory and doubling our production capacity.

We are also working towards the expansion of our production capacity for transformers and at the same time, building more facilities in other states in the country.”
