The board of Edo state Football Association will today meet with the managements of Insurance and Inneh Queens Football Clubs of Benin.
Media officer of the state FA, Oni Obadan in a statement issued yesterday disclosed that the meeting will enable the board look into the problems affecting the two clubs with a view to solving them.
He further said the board was determined to ensure Insurance of Benin returned to Nigeria’s Premier league at the end of the ongoing season, while all necessary assistance would be given to Inneh Queens as they prepare for the Women league which kicks off this weekend across the country.
The meeting will be held at Decency Hotel, Benin.
Tough test for Nigeria cricket
The Nigeria Cricket Federation has invited 25 Cricketers for first phase of national trials to be held at the Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval, Lagos from 10th to 11th of February 2011.
The process will lead to the selection of a final 14_man squad that will represent Nigeria at the two major cricket tournaments.
This is ahead of two international competitions involving the national team in April and May, this year.
The cricket federation announced that the national team will participate in the T20 African Premier League and the World Cricket League Division 7 tournament.
The T20 APL which holds in Benoni, South Africa between 23 and 28, April will feature Nigeria and nine other African countries divided into two groups.
Pool A include Tanzania, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Malawi and Nigeria, and winner of T20 APL Division 3, while Pool B has countries like Botswana, Zambia, Switzerland, Mozambique and winner of Division 3.
The ICC World Cricket League division 7 tournament on the other hand holds May 1- 8 in Botswana.
Countries involved in WCL DIV 7 in Botswana: May 1_8, 2011 Norway, Botswana, Japan, Nigeria, Kuwait and Germany.
General Manager of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, George Wiltshire confirmed the secretariat’s determination to commence early camping.
Nigeria is ranked 39th in the Global Ranking of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
