Pandemonium broke out, yesterday, in Ojota area of Lagos State when a Maryland-bound commercial bus, popularly called Danfo driver crushed a middle aged woman, an employee of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA,  to death.

The Danfo driver, according to eye witness was in the process of evading arrest by officials of  LASTMA,  when he suddenly ran into service lane, where the road sweeper was working, crushing her to death instantly.

It was learnt that the driver of the bus as well as the LASTMA officials immediately took to their heels to avoid being lynched by the mob, which had gathered at the scene.

A witness, simply identified as  Moses ,  narrated to Vanguard that LASTMA officials need not have chased the Danfo driver, adding that all that they needed to do was for them to take note of the plate number of the vehicle and the offence committed, which could be minuted on the vehicle particulars of the owner at the Central License Registry so that he could be made to face the consequence when he turns up for renewal.

The latest incident is coming,  a week after an Okada rider tried to evade arrest but was crushed by one of the buses in the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, scheme at Mile 12, which forced a mob attack on LASTMA officials and torching of two BRT buses in the area.

As at press time, the Ministry of Transportation was yet to react to the incident as several calls made across to the Public Relations Officer PRO’s number could not go through.
