94 militants surrender in Delta

AT least, 94 militants, under the aegis of  Oshawa Freedom Fighters, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, renounced militancy on Wednesday and surrendered their arms and ammunition to a former militant commander,  John Ozikabu.

The leader of the militant group, ‘General’ Ogbodu Okorhi, alias, Cracker, said while surrenderin weapons, which include 14 locally made guns, two pistols, four grenades and 300 cartridges, to Ozikabu, that the militants have decided to embrace the Federal Government’s amnesty programme and would want to be part of the phase II of the amnesty programme to ensure that there was total peace in the Niger Delta.

He said they had realised that the only way massive development could come to the Niger Delta area was by granting the government, oil companies and development agencies total peace to operate.
