AS numerous supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South-West await the arrival of President Goodluck Jonathan to kick off his presidential campaign in the zone, six committees have been inaugurated to make the campaign successful.
This hint was given by the zonal Legal officer of the party, Mr. Waheed Lawal Weekend in Ibadan.
According to him, six committees had been set up to make the rally a memorable event, noting that the committees included mobilization, security and publicity committees.
The committees are to be chaired by the zonal chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, the host governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala and the Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
He said, “The president will kick off his campaign in the North-Central part of the country on Monday. That the second leg of the campaign is taking off in Ibadan, the renowned political capital of the entire South-West, is a demonstration of the importance President Jonathan attaches to the zone and its people”.
Calling the people to give the president a rousing welcome, he stated “the presidential visit will also afford us the opportunity to have a direct access to the president and give him a bit of our mind as a people and let him know our impression about him and also table our areas of need”.
“We are, therefore, calling on the teeming PDP members and followers, as well as the generality of the people of the South-West zone, to give the president a rousing welcome on Tuesday,” he urged.
