US Embassy keeps Eagles in suspense

By Fidelis Ebu

There are strong indications that the US embassy would not honour all the visa applications for players of the Super Eagles selected for the forthcoming international friendly against Guatemala in Miami and the Green Bowl soccer Tournament in the United States of America next month.

It was gathered yesterday that not all the players in the first batch would get their visa applications approved. The first batch has been slated to leave for the US on February 3 for the friendly game.

We further gathered that in a bid to make things easier for the Eagles players, the National Sports Commission sent a note verbal to the embassy to facilitate the documentation process; but that too has been rebuffed by the American embassy, a development that might force Coach Samson Siasia to make do with the few that would succeed with their visa applications.

However, spokesman for the Nigeria Football Federation Ademola Olajire explained  that efforts were being made to ensure the players selected for both the friendly and Green Bowl Tournament are granted entry visa.
