United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has expressed readiness to partner with the new administration in Osun State in actualising its developmental programmes in areas such as agriculture, power generation and job creation. The bank made its intention known during a visit by the UBA management team led by the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Phillips Oduoza to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, at the government House.
Oduoza during the visit announced the readiness of the bank to extend a billion naira loan to the State Government, to be accessed by farmers in the state, under the Commercial Agriculture Credit Loan Scheme (CACS) and also extend financial support towards construction of independent power projects in the state.
Oduoza who was accompanied by the Deputy Managing Director, South for UBA, Mr Victor Osadolor reminded the Governor that UBA had disbursed over N 38 billion under the CACS, the largest by any financial institution participating under the scheme, with over 12 states in the federation accessing the loan through the bank.
He assured the Governor and the good people of Osun state of the bank’s support to the state volunteer service, a project conceived by the government of Engr. Aregbesola towards creating 25,000 trained volunteers that are to provide auxiliary services in critical sectors in the state.
“Our renewed partnership with the Osun State government is based on what we considered to be the positive impacts derivable from the programmes of the new government in accelerating the socio economic development of the state.” Mr. Oduoza said shortly after the meeting.
“Governmental activities to us is a marathon, UBA is ready to partner with Osun Government in this race”. he also said. He further announced the reduction of interest on loan the Bank had availed the state government, an action that would strengthen the financial opportunities available for developmental projects.
In his response, the Osun State Governor commended UBA for the renewed partnership with it “a reflection of a good season that is bringing
fourth a fantastic harvest”, as the bank has shown a tremendous efforts in bettering the existing relationships. “I am particularly delighted to hear the Bank’s decision on the reduction on interest
rate on existing loan, but most appealing to me is the UBA’s readiness to partner with us in raising the agriculture bar in the state, through facilitation of N1bn loan under the Commercial Agriculture
Credit Scheme (CACS), and credit facilities to artisans through cooperatives” the Governor said.
