Enugu State Waste Management Agency, ESWAMA, has vowed to withhold the January salaries of staff who failed to provide evidence of obtaining the voter’s card.

Mrs Chinyere Ogakwu, Managing Director of the agency, said it would pay January salary to only those who could present their voter’s card.

Ogakwu told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, shortly after registering in the ongoing voter registration at Udi/Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area that she had already issued a circular to that effect.

“This is the only way I can encourage them to participate in the exercise and I mean what I have said,’’ she said.

Ogakwu commended the state government for offering three work-free days to enable workers in the state to perform their civic responsibility.

She, however, called on heads of both public and private establishments to adopt measures that would encourage people to register.
