Minister’s aide dies in auto crash

Personal Assistant to Minister of Education,  on Media and Special duties, Comrade Safiyanu Baba Ringim, died in a ghastly auto crash in Gamoji town along Dutse-Kano road.

A family source told Vanguard that the accident occurred around 9p.m. while the deceased was coming back to Dutse from Kano where he went  on an official assignment.

The source said the accident was caused by a trailer that attempted to overtake a vehicle and collided with Safiyanu’s Golf 3 car at Gamoji village.

Comrade Safiyanu was said to have died on the spot, while the other occupant of the car sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.

The remains of late Safiyanu was conveyed to his home town Ringim and buried according to islamic rites.

Late Safiyanu died at the age of 48 and left behind two wives, many children and relatives, before his appointment as PA to the Minister he served as the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Jigawa state council for two term and later Public Relations Officer, Office of the head of civil service, Jigawa state.

Hundred of people attended the burial ceremony at his home town Ringim amongst are the council chairman of Ringim, Alhaji Murtala Abubakar, Permanent Secretaries of various Ministries, top government officials, Chairman NUJ and Correspondent Chapel and working colleagues of the deceased.
