Investors on the Nigerian Stock market,Wednesday continued to reap thier investnment as the value of listed equities represented by the market capitalisation appreciated by N120.67 billion.
Specifically, the capitalisation appreciated by 1.44 per cent to close at N8.471 trillion from N8.350 trillion at which it opened. Another key performance indices, the All share index appreciated by 1.44 per cent or 377.7 bases points to close at 26,515.15 points from 26,137.45 points.
Starcomms Plc recorded the most share price gain on the gainers table with a gain of N0.07 to close at N1.47 per share, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with a gain of N0.95 to close at N19.95 per share and Nigerian Breweries Plc garnered N3.94 to close at N82.94 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Oceanic Bank International Nigeria Plc N0.15, Red Star Express Plc N0.14, Ashaka Cement Plc N1.37, Ikeja Hotel Plc N0.09, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc N050, Union Bank Nigeria Plc N0.23, Intercontinental Bank Plc N0.12, among others.
On the contrary, Presco Plc led on the losers table dropping by N0.35 to close at N6.65 per share, First Aluminium Plc followed with a loss of N0.03 to close at N0.58 per share and Vono Product Plc dipped by N0.18 to close at N3.49 per share.
Other share price losers include: Beco Petroleum Plc N0.03, UTC Nigeria Plc N0.03, RT Briscoe Plc N0.12, Prestige Assurance Company Plc N0.08, Crusader Nigeria Plc N0.02, National Salt Company Nigeria Plc N0.17, First City Monument Bank Plc N0.19, among others.
NSE 30, which measures the performance of blue chips in the market garnered 2.02 per cent, NSE Banking recorded the highest points by 2.32 per cent, NSE Food and Beverages went up by 0.24 per cent, NSE Insurance appreciated by 0.34 per cent and NSE Oil and Gas rose by 1.66 per cent.
Trading plunged by 32.21per cent, however, a turnover of 586.48 million shares valued at N5.44 billion in 7,995 deals was recorded, in contrast to the previous day’s turnover of 865.09 million shares valued at N6.24 billion in 7,073 deals.
The Banking sub-sector dominated activities on the sectorial analysis accounting for 84.04 per cent of the market turnover with 492.88 million shares valued at N4.70 billion in 4,910 deals. Zenith Bank Plc recorded the highest transaction in the sub-sector trading 168.31 million shares valued at N2.68 billion in 533 deals, Wema Bank Plc followed with th exchange of 40.53 million shares valued at N56.53 million in 135 deals and Diamond Bank Plc recorded 37.77 million shares valued at N324.27 million in 198 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector trailed on the sectorial analysis accounting for 4.74 per cent of the market turnover with 27.82 million shares valued at N23.81 million in 418 deals. Standard Alliance Insurance Plc led the sub-sector trading 10.04 million shares valued at N5.02 million in six deals, AIICO Insurance Plc followed with the exchange of 6.51 million shares valued at N6.04 million in 267 deals and NEM Insurance Company Nigeria Plc recorded 3.68 million shares valued at N2.07 million in 43 deals.
