Delta House: Tebite, Igbuya Ighrakpata clinch PDP ticket

THE members representing Ughelli South, Sapele and Uvwie constituencies in the Delta State House of Assembly, Olorogun Taleb Tebite, Chief Monday Igbuya and Chief Solomon Ighrakpata respectively have clinched the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ticket to fly the party’s flag in the 2011 general elections in their constituencies.

Mr Sam Mariere and Chief Cheriff Oborevwori emerged as the party’s flag bearers in Ughelli North Constituency 1 and Okpe constituency respectively. The primaries election into Ughelli North constituency II, however, could not hold following the non arrival of voting materials.

Addressing party faithful at Government College, Ughelli, venue of the primaries for the Ughelli North constituency II, Dr Steve Oru told aspirants and their supporters to remain calm, adding that the party was committed to the promotion of internal democracy.

Oru said a new date will be fixed for the election, to pave way for credible candidate to emerge as the party’s flag bearer in the general elections. Speaking to newsmen, one of the aspirants in the constituency, Chief Akpos Edafevwotu, expressed confidence that he would win when the elections were conducted and urged his supporters to remain calm.

Dr Isaac Akpoveta, another aspirant in the constituency said, “the essence of it all is that no election was held. No official from Asaba came  to conduct the election.”
