FORMER Deputy Governor during Otunba Adebayo Aloa-Akala’s 11 months illegal reign in Oyo State, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, has said Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s second term bid could best be described as a betrayal of trust to the late popular politician, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.
He said being the closest to Chief Adedibu before his death, the deceased never entered into any agreement with Akala that he would govern the state for the second term.
Gbolarumi argued that the governorship primary that the governor claimed to have won was fraught with irregularity and concoction of figures.
With his rejection of the results of the primary which reportedly gave the party’s ticket to Akala for the second term, Gbolarumi would be the second aspirant that cried foul of the primary.
According to him, it was unfair that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party did not honour earlier agreement that two-third of the state executive would be given to other chieftains of the party while Governor Akala would have one-third.
He noted that there was no justification for the alleged disqualification the party recorded against his name. Gbolarumi explained that he went for screening and purchased the nomination form for N5.5m and was given provisional clearance certificate. He wondered how the party arrived at his disqualification overnight without giving him any reason for doing so.
With the alleged partisanship of the party at the centre, he argued that there was no way the party would win the state.
He said, “I can bet it with anyone that Akala is not going anywhere. I was the closest to Chief Adedibu. I was with Adedibu.
