WARRI—Three persons, were, Monday, charged before a Warri Magistrate Court, Delta State for alleged robbery and murder of a Businessman, John Oyale.
The accused persons, David Ebisine (18 years), Ebi Ogisi (31 years) and Raphael Job (20 years), allegedly robbed late Oyale on December 30, 2010 at Warri River along Egonwiegbene in Warri.
The accused persons, according to charge, were alleged to have conspired and committed the robbery offence, punishable under Section 6(b) of the robbery and firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11, laws of the Federation.
They were further accused of robbing their victim of the sum of N492,000, two Yamaha Engine boat and one water pumping machine all valued N2.6 million, while armed with cutlass and knives.
They were also accused of killing their victim by stabbing and cutting him with cutlass and knives on his back and neck. The offence is punishable under Sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38 Laws of the Federation 2004.
The case was adjourned sine dai for the police to file the matter before a competent court for trial, since the magistrate court has no jurisdiction to handle murder cases.
