Sambo commissions Gujungu-Hadejia road

GUJUNGU—Vice President, Arch. Muhammad Namadi Sambo, has commissioned the 66.8- kilometer Gujungu-Hadejia road in Jigawa State constructed at the cost of N1.749 billion, with the assurance that Federal Government will partner with the state government to construct more inter-state and urban roads.

Architecture Sambo, who was speaking at the commissioning venue in Gujungu, lauded the efforts of Governor Sule Lamido in the provision of quality access roads in the state.

He said President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will support and cooperate with Lamido’s administration to continue with the good works he had started in Jigawa state for the benefit of the people of the state.

He solicited  the support of Jigawa people to reciprocate the gesture done to them by their governor by giving him another mandate in 2011 to re-contest the general election as their next governor as well as supporting President Jonathan to clinch the presidency which he said is the only solution in the interest of democracy.

According to the Vice President, Federal Government will establish a date-firm factory and a data research center in the state, adding that the government will soon address the problem power in the country and reiterated the commitment of President Jonathan to provide security of lives and property of the citizenry especially at this critical election period.

Speaking, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Baba S. Aliyu, said the state government constructed a total of 29 roads covering about 1,064 kilometers at a cost of N54. 719 billion.

Alhaji Baba Aliyu explained that despite the capital intensive nature of road construction the state does not obtain any loan from any source or received any voluntary aid for the funding of the roads constructed across the state, pointed out that government has equally not entertain any variation on the cost of contracts on any of the projects.
