S-South youths warn Atiku against reckless utterances

By Jimitota Onoyume

PORT HARCOURT —  FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been cautioned against utterances capable of overheating the polity.

South South Youth Leaders Forum in a statement,Sunday, in Port Harcourt by its national president, Mr. Odiedim Amachree, said recent statement credited to the former Vice President signalled the desperation of a man seeking political power even at the risk of the peace and stability of the Nigerian state.

The group advised the former Vice President to bring his political ambition under check because the nation at this time want peace builders and not troublemakers.

The body also called on genuine Northern leaders to call the former Vice President to order, as such utterance credited to him was capable of inflicting serious injury on the nation’s life.  The group warned that nobody should see himself as more Nigerian than others.

“We sadly note also that the presidency of President Goodluck Jonathan is constantly undermined by the North.”
“Firstly, it was Adamu Ciroma, who carelessly for no just reason called for the resignation of President Jonathan. And now Atiku had come up to threaten the entire nation just because of his selfish and personal interest.

“We call on the so-called Northern Political Leaders Forum, who made Atiku their consensus candidate to warn and advise him against such careless and grossly unguarded statements.

“Also as youth leaders in the South South, we wish to make it clear that leadership of this country is not the exclusive right of any zone, region or tribe. And also, violence is not the exclusive preserve of any zone, region or tribe.

Therefore, all those who intend to rule this country by force and threat must think before they talk,” the group added.
