IMO State police command Thursday, asked other security operatives in the state to team up with it and initiate strategies through regular meetings to confront the menace of crime ravaging the state.
Speaking at a security seminar organized by the Police, Assistance Committee, PAC, in Owerri, Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Atti Okoh, said security should be the business of everyone, including the SSS, NDLEA, ICPC and Customs.
The PPRO, who noted that the menace of kidnapping, armed robbery and other heinous crimes, was giving the police sleepless nights, said collective efforts by other security agencies and members of the public, the police could go a long way in minimizing the rate of crime in the state.
Director-General of the Police Assistance Committee, Dr. Martins Oni, in his remarks, said the main objectives of the body, which membership cuts across Association of Tradesmen and Artisans nation-wide, included providing logistics support to the police through installation of computers with internet at all police formations throughout the country and giving useful information to the police at the community level, which could assist the force in crime prevention and combating.
The PAC helmsman commended the police hierarchy, past and present, for the confidence reposed in PAC by granting the body the rare opportunity to render selfless service to security agencies in their assignments.
