AN Aide to Edo State Governor, Prince John Mayaki , has dismissed the claims by the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, that it will win the 2012 gubernatorial elections in the state, saying such could only happen “if the election is held in another planet.”
Mayaki, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Affairs, in a statement, Thursday, said “yes, the PDPcan win Edo State, if only PDP is ready to rule dead people. If the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducts the election in another state called Edo not within the geographical location of the present one, then PDP can have a landslide even sky slide but not the present Edo that we know.
“The PDP can win when the ever grateful and right thinking Edo people are asleep, when the elections are being held. Besides, for a most respected Chief Tony Anenih to say Oshiomhole is a Court-made-Governor is the height of unpatriotic attitude of a citizen of the state.
“The Court is the last hope of the common man, the mighty and the helpless and that is also the same place, Chief Anenih runs to for justice. As we speak, he has a lot of court cases pending and the Court cannot declare Oshiomhole winner without the ballot or election.
We approached the Courts after the elections and as such, nobody should disparage the court or its judgment. On the other hand, does he expect the people to take the laws into their hands and result to violence?” he asked.
