Three female Nigerian players have been short listed for the African Footballer of the year but no male player made the list.
This is coming as no surprise to most football lovers in Nigeria because of the feat performed by the female football team in the AWC in South Africa where they won the tournament, beating Equatorial guinea 4-2.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria, despite qualifying for the FIFA 2010 World cup failed to impress as they crashed out of the competition. Shamefully.
The three female Nigerian players nominated for the award are Perpetual Nkwocha ,Stella Mbachu and Ebere Orji.
Nwokocha won the golden boot at the AWC where she ran riot with goals while Mbachu was voted the most valuable player of the competition .While speaking on the development ,coach Uche Eucharia praised the players for a job well done and expressed optimism that one of the Nigerian girls would win the award.
