Niger 2011: In a twist, Zaynab backs Chief Servant

SENATOR Zaynab Kure has thrown her weight behind the re-election of Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State.

Senator Kure is the wife of the immediate past governor of Niger State, Eng. Abdulkadir Kure who has himself been politically estranged from his successor and has been the focus of at least one panel of enquiry.

Senator Kure gave her endorsement of the Chief Servant while speaking at the end of year luncheon for supporters of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Zone A in Mokwa.. Her chief contender for her seat in the forthcoming Senatorial primaries Rep. Baba Shehu Agaie, the deputy leader of the House of Representatives also endorsed Dr. Aliyu on the occasion.

While enumerating the numerous achievements of the governor in the past three years Senator Kure added that his re_election will afford him the opportunity to complete the good work he has started.

She listed the numerous achievements of the present governor to include free and qualitative education, housing, water, roads, affordable health care, aggressive rural development among others pointing out that these achievements have greatly reduced the rural urban migration as a result of various dividend of democracy brought to the door steps of the people.

Senator Kure called on the people of the state to desist from rumour mongering which she said is capable of tearing not only the party apart but also the state which she noted could lead to chaos and consequently slow down the pace of development.

She seized the opportunity to remind the people of the state of one of their civic responsibility towards the success of the forth coming general elections which is to come out and register during the voters registration exercise adding that the key towards electing credible leaders is the voters register.

Agaie who was the Special Guest of Honour at the Occasion also called on people of the state to support the second bid of Dr. Aliyu saying, “the re_election of Dr. Aliyu will usher in another rapid development and the issue of under development in the state will be a thing of the past”.

According to him, the present administration led by the chief servant has set a pace especially in areas of ward development projects, accountability, due process, servant leadership initiative and transparency which are worth of emulation.

Secretary to the state government, Dr. Muhammed Kuta Yahaya who represented the state governor at the occasion reiterated government commitment towards improving the living standard of people of the state.

While thanking people of the state for their support in the past three years, the SSG assured that the forth_coming years will usher in more meaningful projects that will transform the lives of people of he state for the better.
