LUBCON Ltd, a Nigerian registered oil and gas firm, has been conferred with this year’s World Quality Commitment Award (Platinum Category) under the auspices of Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D). The company was recognized for commitment to quality, leadership, technology and innovation.
President and CEO of B. I. D , Jose E. Prieto, along with Craig Miller, President of QC100, presented the trophy to LUBCON Chairman Engr Jani Ibrahim and his Managing Director, Taiye O. Williams, at a ceremony witnessed by business leaders from 54 countries around the world at the Concorde La Fayette Hotel, Paris, on October 25, this year.
According to a statement from the company, the B.I.D. International Quality trophy is presented to those companies from around the world that best adhere to excellence and innovation in their practices, putting quality first. Taiye Williams and Jani Ibrahim stood before the diverse gathering to illustrate the achievements of LUBCON Limited.
In 2007, LUBCON received the B.I.D. Gold Award in New York. Along with LUBCON Limited, other winners of the B.I.D. Quality Award for year 2010 in Paris included Jordan Airmotive Ltd. Co., a maintenance organization responsible for engines that power aircraft such as Airbus and Boeing.
Another winner was Sonangol Distribuidora, a parastatal company with over 30 subsidiaries that oversees the petroleum and natural gas production of Angola.
Other awardees were Kaspersky Lab, a computer security company originally from Russia that is the fourth-largest antivirus vendor on a global scale; TESA Palisade Fencing & Security Systems, a South African firm that manufactures steel security palisade fencing and operates throughout the African continent; and , a government parastatal under Norway’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
LUBCON Limited from Nigeria now joins the group of B.I.D. Awarded Members, a B.I.D. family that exists throughout 178 countries around the world consisting of companies dedicated to quality culture.
Winners of the World Quality Commitment Award in Paris were honoured for their business success, dedication to continuous improvement, and for abiding by the principles of the B.I.D-created QC100 model of Total Quality Management, a formula for business success that values commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, communication, benchmarking, information analysis, leadership, planning and decision-making, human resources, continuous training, production systems, and business results. Its main emphasis lies in the commitment to quality and innovation.
