AFTER several months of dilly-dallying, a former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has finally chickened out of the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state. He pitched his tent with the Accord Party which is little known in the state.
In a statement by his aide, Mr. Lanre Latinwo, the ex-governor reportedly declared his intention at a gathering of his supporters from all the 33 local governments of the state.
The meeting was held at Chief Alli Oyedeji’s (Dodo) House in Oluwo-Nla, Bashorun, Ibadan. According to Latinwo, the defection would put paid to the yearning of supporters of the former governor that he should rescue the state from alleged “maladministration, misrule and misplaced priority of the present government in Oyo State.”
He said Ladoja, in his speech, promised to bring back government of the people and welfare of the citizens, adding that Accord Party would not be conduit pipe to loot the state treasury as it is allegedly happening now.
The former governor promised to see to it that education, health, pensioners, industries, housing and the market places are conducive for meaningful growth.
He used the occasion to announce that he would officially visit the Accord state headquarters office to collect his governorship intention form tomorrow.
