The value of investment on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) recorded a decline last week as equities value represented by the market capitalisation dipped by N115.65 billion.
Specifically, the capitalisation dropped by 1.46 per cent to close at N7.809 trillion from N7.925trillion at which it opened.
Another key performance indices, the All share index slide by 1.46 per cent or 361.98 bases points to close at 24,445.06 points from 24,807.04 points at which it opened.
Stocks of Nestle Nigeria Plc led 69 others on the price losers’ table, dropping by N17.00 to close at N380.00 per share. Nigerian Breweries Plc followed with a loss of N2.00 to close at N77.00 per share and Unilever Nigeria Plc dipped by N1.80 to close at N25.00 per share.
Other share price losers include: Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc N1.53, Zenith Bank Plc N1.14,
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc N1.11, Ashaka Cement Plc N1.09, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc N1.00, Oando Plc N1.00, UAC of Nigeria Plc N0.92, among others.
Guinness Nigeria Plc however led on the gainers’ table with a gain of N3.25 to close at N180.25 per share, Chemical and Allied Products Plc followed with a gain of N3.16 to close at N34.03 per share and Skye Shelter Fund Plc garnered N3.00 to close at N97.00 per share.
Other share price gainers’ include: Northern Nigeria Flour Mills Plc N1.99, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc N1.00, African Petroleum Plc N0.90, Dangote Cement Plc N0.38, Vono Products Plc N0.37,
Ecobank Transnational Incorporation Plc N0.21, Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc N0.11, among others.
Equity trading appreciated by 12.5 per cent, as a turnover of 1.35 billion shares valued at N13.34 billion was recorded in 30,638 deals in the week under review, in contrast to the previous week’s turnover of 1.2 billion shares valued at N9.46 billion in 28,192 deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most active on the sectorial analysis, accounting for 55.56 per cent of the market turnover, with 749.5 million shares valued at N6.71 billion in 16,877 deals.
Guaranty Trust Bank Plc recorded the highest transaction in the sub-sector, trading 124.05 million shares valued at N2.07 billion in 2,839 deals, Zenith Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 97.81 million shares valued at N1.40 billion in 2,289 deals and First Bank of Nigeria Plc recorded 81.74 million shares valued at N1.03 billion in 3,639 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector, followed on the sectoral analysis, accounting for 17.04 per cent of the market turnover, with 230.11 million shares valued at N163.1 million in 2,134 deals.
