Candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, in next month’s governorship re-run election in Delta State, Mr. Emmanuel Igbini, Tuesday, said he was in support of the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to hold the poll on January 6 and also use the 2006 voters’ register.
Igbini who stated his position in Warri, said he was taken aback by the opposition mounted against the election on January 6 and use of the old voters’ register by the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Democratic People’s Party, DPP, gubernatorial candidate, Chief Julius Ogboru and senatorial aspirant, Chief Pius Ewherido.
On the resistance by the ACN, led by former Lagos State Governor, Chief Bola Tinubu, he said, “it is a fact that , few days ago, December 24, INEC conducted a bye-election into Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly Lagos State, which ACN lost to PDP.
“The big question to ask ACN now is, which voters’ register did INEC use? December 2006 or Prof. Jega’s planned 2011 voters’ register?” he asked.
