IMMEDIATE past Executive Director and Head of Cornerstone General Business, an arm of Cornerstone Group, Mr. Soji Emiola, has been named the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, of Guinea Insurance Plc as part of the company’s efforts to reposition its business for greater success.

The Board of Directors of Guinea Insurance Plc, which announced the appointment, also appointed Mr. Ekerete Gam_Ikon as Executive Director, Marketing.

Similarly,  Alhaji Abdulkarim Oshioke Kadiri, a Chartered Accountant, has equally been announced as an Independent Non_Executive Director on the Board.

Mr. Emiola, a qualified insurer and consummate marketer of repute, was until now, the Executive Director and Head of Cornerstone General Business, an arm of Cornerstone Group.

Emiola is a 1986 Insurance graduate of University of Lagos and holds a Masters degree in Business Administration Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

He is an associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria; and was, before his elevation to the position of Executive Director and Head of General Business of Cornerstone Insurance, the General Manager, Operations; a Deputy General Manager and Head of the Business Network Group. .

He has attended the Senior Management Programme of Lagos Business School in 2000, Fit for Executive Decision in Zurich, Switzerland in 2007 and Leading and Managing People, Wharton Executive Education, Pennsylvania, USA. Emiola, who is currently familiarizing himself with the company’s operations, took the helms formally as Managing Director/CEO, effective, November 1, 2010.

On his part,  Ekerete Gam_Ikon, an Economist, Customer Advocate and Certified Process Professional, graduated from the University of Calabar, with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Economics.

He left Cornerstone Insurance Plc in June 2009 as Group Head, Corporate Development and founded The Third Party Media Company Limited, a customer advocacy company for the insured.

Mr. Gam_Ikon was the pioneer Managing Director/CEO First Chartered Insurance Company Limited, Lagos.
With considerable industry experience earned from Leadway Assurance Company, Mutual Benefit Assurance and the then Central Insurance Company, Gam_Ikon comes with considerable pedigree to Guinea Insurance Plc.

Gam_Ikon has attended several local and international senior executive courses and seminars within and outside Nigeria. He holds the membership of several professional associations namely Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), IPAPI, USA; Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria; Nigerian Institute of Marketing; Chartered Institute of Personnel Management; Institute of Management Consultants in Nigeria.
