Galaxy Backbone partners MainOne Cable on broadband access

The current wind of broadband revolution in Nigeria is set to move to the next level as Galaxy Backbone is partnering with other ICT operators to deliver superior Data and Voice services to its customers.

Specifically, Galaxy has executed a strategic agreement with MainOne Cable Company for the direct procurement of bandwidth capacity for the next 15 years.

Main One provides the backbone infrastructure which provides superior and reliable access to broadband communication services while Galaxy will deliver superior Data, Internet, Voice and Video services to its customers via its integrated infrastructure platform, 1-GOV.net.

With commercial launch of MainOne services on July 1, 2010, Galaxy Backbone and MainOne Cable will be hosting an event in Abuja to formally announce the service partnership which is quite strategic for both brands.

This partnership will have a significant positive impact on the attainment of the ICT sectoral objectives and by extension the overarching goals of the Nigerian Vision 20: 2020 strategy.

According to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, Mr. Gerald Ilukwe, “Galaxy Backbone is really excited about the strategic partnership with Main One Cable because it is now better positioned to help the government achieve its ICT goals by delivering enhanced quality of data, internet, voice and video services”. Commenting further, Funke Opeke, the Chief Executive Officer of MainOne Cable said, “Through our partnership with Galaxy, we have further extended our footprint upcountry which allows us to bring our superior quality, reliable and affordable broadband communication to the Federal Government and ISPs within the region”.

The Galaxy Backbone and MainOne Broadband Partnership event is taking place next Thursday, December 16 at Yar’Adua Centre.

The Special Guest of Honour is President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, while the Chief Host is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed.

The key speakers at the event with the theme “The Future Is Here” include Dr. Shamsudeen Usman the Honorable Minister/Chairman, National Planning Commission and Prof. Afolabi, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

With the support of this Government, Galaxy has made significant progress in the provision of ICT services to over 3000 locations nationwide.
