Eselemo debunks Ogboru’s claims against Uduaghan

By Emma Arubi
WARRI—GRAND Patron of the Ijaw Youth Congress, IYC, Prince Collins Eselemo, yesterday, took a hard stand against the gubernatorial aspirant of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, in Delta State for the re-run election, Chief Great Ogboru, describing his claims against former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, as deceitful and insincere.

Chief Ogboru had on Monday, said that the Uduaghan administration wasted a whopping N800 billion on nothing tangible in the state, citing the Asaba International airport project and the Independent Power Plant, IPP, project at Oghara as nothing but a ruse and conduit pipe for siphoning of state funds.

However, the Niger Delta activist, said Ogboru’s claim that it was the turn of the Delta North senatorial district to rule the state after him, amounted to playing to the gallery, just as he insisted that the Central senatorial district, to which Ogboru belongs, has been ruling the state since the time of Chief Felix Ibru to Ibori, adding that the South senatorial district must be given its rightful due by being allowed to complete its two terms in office with Uduaghan as Governor.

He charged Chief Ogboru to provide concrete evidence of wastage of state fund by Uduaghan, stressing that nobody in his right senses would call the Asaba airport project and the Oghara IPP project failed projects. He noted that the Asaba International airport was set to boost industrialization, which would benefit all Nigerians even as he called for the expansion of the Osubi airstrip to serve the interest of Warri and Ughelli axis of the state.

While stating that ogboru’s claims is inequitable at the political level and that needs to be addressed concretely, he advised the DPP gubernatorial candidate to channel his energy and wisdom towards ensuring a successful voters registration exercise where the peoples vote would count.

Eselemo expressed regrets that while the PDP and former Governor Uduaghan and his team are gearing up preparation towards securing the peoples vote in the coming re_run election with their massive structure on ground, Chief Ogboru’ party and his cohorts are busy trooping to the Abuja and the home of some discredited elders to seek a short cut to power, playing the ethnic game and fanning the embers of discord and disunity amongst the people.
