Erediauwa cautions against political violence

By Simon Ebegbulem, Benin
THE Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa, has admonished aspirants in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in the state to eschew violence in the forthcoming state congress  and primariesof the party.

The Oba, who gave this advise when he received Edo South senatorial aspirant, Mr. Matthew Urhoghide, in his palace, urged politicians to ensure that they play by the rules of the game and ensure that they keep to their promises when elected.

Commending the aspirant for his doggedness and confidence in the senatorial race, the Oba charged politicians to see themselves as brothers and sisters, stressing that politics “must be seen as a game and not a do-or-die matter.” He wished the aspirant well and urged him to remember his promises to the people when he wins.

Earlier, in his speech, Urhohide said he was in the palace to intimate the Oba of his ambition and seek his royal blessing, assuring that, “if I am giving the opportunity to serve, I will ensure that the people contribute to whatever we want to do.

The people of Edo South will tell me what to do and not me sitting in Abuja to impose decisions on the people.’’
