DPR warns on sale of adulterated fuel

PORT HARCOURT— MARKETERS of petroleum products in Rivers State have been warned against sale of adulterated products.

Handing down the warning at a meeting between marketers of the products and Directorate of Petroleum Product, DPR,  the latter said it had noted the tendency on the part of marketers to make high profit through sale of adulterated products and adjustment of pumps prices.

Zonal Operations Controller, Port Harcourt, Zone, Mrs O.  Sibeudu, said the Directorate would not hesitate to sanction any marketer caught in such act.  She enjoined marketers to ensure that the Directorate was aware of any upgrade they want to carry out in their station before they commence work.

She said DPR encourages upgrade but for sake regulation, it was proper to always bring the attention of the directorate to any upgrade before they are carried out.

According to her, even upgrade on pumps should be brought to the attention of DPR before it is done.
“If you are operating the downstream sector and DPR is the regulating body, then you have to draw our attention to it before any upgrade is done,” she added.

She further used the forum to inform marketers that storage and sale licence renewal circle now begins in October and ends on December 31st as against the former circle of October to March of every year.

Mrs Sibeudu noted that the stability in product delivery in the country had been possible so far because of the collective effort of the federal government and stakeholders just as she urged the marketers to continue to shun temptations to indulge in sharp practices while discharging their duties.
