YENAGOA- BAYELSA-born ex-militant leader, Comrade Frank Akiefa, alias Ebi Kokos has said the state required a man in the likes of the Presidential Adviser on Niger-Delta, Mr. Timi Alaibe to come out of its current development and economic quagmire.
Mr. Akiefa, who was responding to comments by Mr. Jude Tabai, the special adviser to Governor Timipre Sylva that Mr. Alaibe was a not a threat to the second term ambition of his boss said, contrary to what he said, panic had already gripped the governor’s camp because Alaibe is the only man they know would take over the state from them.
His words, “It is obvious that the presence of Hon. Timi Alaibe for the gubernatorial race has created great scare in Bayelsa State”.
“Hon Alaibe’s credentials proved a lot. He is the man Bayelsans know can emulate the good works the governor of their sister state (Rivers), Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi is doing. His curriculum vitae, starting from his days in the NDDC to the present post-amnesty programme and the stability he has brought to the Niger-Delta region speak for him. In fact, it is undisputable that he has sacrificed everything he has to actualize the dreams of Niger-Delta youths”, he said.
“I know the present incumbent has done nothing tangible to convince the people of the state to give him another tenure and frankly speaking, it is shameful for him to be saying on the newspaper as recent as April, 2010 that he is going to fence generator house and build hospital fence, while Rivers state is building 60 hospitals in 60 communities, which was obviously seen by all”, he asserted.
According to Akiefa, ‘I want to ask June Tabai how such a visionless government can continue to lead the people of the state, we need a breath of fresh air and Timi Alaibe is the right choice”.
