US to help sustain Nigeria’s democracy

By Daniel Eteghe

LAGOS—Former US Special Envoy for Africa, and two-time US presidential candidate, Rev. Jesse Jackson, yesterday, stated that the United States of America, was prepared to help Nigeria sustain her nascent democracy in the country to further deepen the relationship between both countries.

Disclosing this intention of the US government at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Rev Jackson noted that sustaining Nigeria’s nascent democracy could only be achieved by building a relationship and sharing education, experience and doing good business amongst both countries with a fair policy that would boost the growth of both countries.

He said: “You build great nations and its citizenry by democracy, drinkable water, universal health care, education, creating jobs; you build great citizens.

“If we can invest in improving human lives, I think there will be great changes in Africa and all her problems would be resolved.“
