Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc recently sponsored the 11th Annual Entrepreneurship Summit of the Juniour Chamber International Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter.
The theme of the Summit tagged “Economic Empowerment: Entrepreneurship as a Key Strategy, brought together Successful Young Entrepreneurs who shared their thoughts and experiences in their presentations at the Summit.
In her opening remarks, the Staff Adviser for the Juniour Chamber International, OAU Chapter, Prof. (Mrs.) ‘Lara Orafidiya of the Faculty of Pharmacy thanked the Management of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc for honouring the invitation to participate as a Corporate Sponsor of the summit and also urged the students to fully take advantage of the new insights that the Summit would have provided them at the end of the day.
The Managing Director of Aya’ba Mrs. Taiwo Oladipo delivered a paper on Women Empowerment as a key to economic development while Mr. Segun Bankole, the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications and Brand
Management of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc gave a talk on how Entrepreneurs can make use of Insurance.
His paper x-rayed the vital role of insurance to the sustainability of any business venture. He added that Insurance is also critical to the progressive existence of families just as it is to business continuity.
Some of the student participants explained that they were particularly delighted that Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc supported the hosting of fhe Entrepreneurship Summit which has afforded them the opportunity to fully appreciate the importance of insurance to any entrepreneurial venture.
According to Miss Jumoke Alao, a 300-level Demographic and Statistics undergraduate of the Institution and the Chairperson, Entrepreneurship Summit 11, said the paper presentation on the relevance of insurance was really an eye_opener to her and a host of other students. She admitted just like her other counterparts that she had never had such close interaction with the practice of insurance until now.
For her, she believes that “more educational fora as such will go a long way in breaking the barrier that has prevented the insurance industry from taking its rightful position in the economic landscape of Nigeria”
