Rivers Police arrest 111 kidnappers

Port Harcourt — One hundred and  eleven kidnappers have been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Suleiman Abba, who spoke on the operations of his command between the months of October and November, said his command also foiled 16 attempted cases of abduction.

He added that 45 armed robbery incidents were also  foiled by his command within the period under review, while seven cultists were  also  arrested.

Continuing, the Police boss said they had also recovered 16 stolen vehicles while a total of 94 fire arms were recovered. Three pipeline vandals were also arrested.

Meantime, the Commissioner has assured residents of the state of a peaceful yuletide season. He said adequate security measures had been put in place to effectively police the state.

The Commissioner during the briefing,  paraded 15 of those arrested for various crimes, who are in Police custody.

He said all the suspects arrested within the period under review have been  charged to court.
