Reyenieju advises Delta electorate to follow guber rerun with calmness

By Daniel Gumm
WARRI — THE forth-coming re-run for the gubernatorial election in Delta State, as directed by the recent Appeal Court judgment in Benin City, will further affirm that the state constitutes one of the most important electoral matrix and hub for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking to a delegation of Ilaje(Yoruba), Ijaw and Itsekiri youths, under the auspices of the “Koko Pivot,” who paid a solidarity visit to him at his Warri residence over the weekend, the member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju, called on the electorate in Delta State not to be worried about the forthcoming gubernatorial re-run election.

He said: “With specific reference to the gubernatorial re-run as directed by the Appeal Court recently; let not your heart be troubled as the monumental developmental strides so far achieved by Emmanuel Uduaghan has already endeared him to all the electorate in Delta State, irrespective of ethnic and party affiliations.”

He advised members of the group not to “agonise, but to organise for the election.”
The lawmaker said the few discordant statements in the media that the PDP would lose Delta State should be ignored in their totality as such amounted to the ranting of political ants.

Leader of the group, Comrade Tesiro Mayomi, expressed shock over the Appeal Court’s decision and their apprehension over the effect the re-run might have on the preparation for the forthcoming 2011 general elections.

Mayomi said that though not all members of his group were of PDP mould, “however, the achievements of Dr. Uduaghan for the past three years, including his detribalised nature and sense of fairness are such that it would amount to hara_kiri and self-immolation to think of another person than Uduaghan as governor of Delta State at this particular time.”
