NIMN establishes local chapters at universities, shifts marketing day

By Princewill Ekwujuru

The Nigerian Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has put machinery in motion to teach marketing to Nigerian students through the establishment of NIMN Chapters in tertiary institutions.

The programme which it plans to extend to secondary schools in due course is also a strategic plan to foster membership development. NIMN which believes that marketing is a catalyst of economic transformation says the membership drive is expected to positively impact on the enrolment of the body’s professional examinations.

Deputy President of the Institute, Sylva Emoekpere who spoke to the press last week on the issue said that the Institute’s programmes for 2010 such as induction, re_orientation and re-certification, Executive programme, convocation and the professional examination would be taken round the country so as to bring the institute nearer to members who may not have find it easy to come to Lagos.

“It is one of the cardinal principles of the present administration to take the institute to the grassroots”, Emoekpere said. He also said that the 2010 National Marketing Day earlier scheduled for November 18, this year has been shifted to December 2, 2010.
The programme would involve Best Student Award, media marketing reporting award and awards to some individuals.
