The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, recently held a Board and Management retreat in Abuja during which the Commission did an appraisal of its performance and charted a new focus for its new leadership.
Some highlights of the retreat were the appearances of the former Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Ahmed Joda, and the former Executive Vice Chairman, Engr. Ernest Ndukwe, who made presentations at different sessions, focusing on their experiences. They both provided useful advice to the current board and management with their telecom regulatory experiences.
Both highlighted the importance of transparency and firmness in the discharge of telecom regulatory responsibilities in the country.
Speaking at the end of the retreat, Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Eugene Juwah, said the sessions were very useful and crucial for galvanizing the senior management and focusing on the future direction of the Commission.
He said the retreat has equipped the board and management of the Commission with the opportunity to interact, deliberate, and espoused on the vision of the Commission and how to make the Commission perform to the expectations of the stakeholders including the government and consumers of telecommunications services in the country.
