A lawyer and his client have been arraigned before an Ikeja High Court on a 9-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and attempt to defraud a company, Junot Construction to the tune of N230 million.
Barrister Audu Abdulmumuni and his client who is a businessman, John Rotimi Omotosho, were arraigned before Justice S. A. Onigbanjo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. They, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The charges preferred against the accused persons stated that the businessman, Omotosho allegedly conspired with his lawyer, Abdulmumuni, to forge some Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, documents which were sent to the Zenith Bank.
In the forged document, Omotosho allegedly claimed he owned a 50-per cent equity in Junot Construction Company. He was alleged to have instructed the bank not to honour any cheque without his instructions and signature as the chairman of the company.
