The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) is exploring the possibility of engaging private investors, both local and international, in the rehabilitation of some of its dilapidated housing estates across the country.
Managing Director, FHA, Mr. Terver Gemade, who disclosed this, blamed the state of infrastructure in Federal Government houses on the low quality of services provided over the years, which have impacted negatively on the infrastructure.
“Some of these estates have been developed for quite a number of years and have had challenges of dilapidating infrastructure because of the high cost of maintenance, which we are conscious of in trying to see how we can rehabilitate some of them like Lugbe Estate in Abuja and that of FESTAC in Lagos.
We have done an extensive study of the situation in relationship to the United Nations Habitat guide, by identifying those areas of dilapidation which has actually been publicised for foreign and national investors to partner with us to ensure the rehabilitation of those infrastructure,” he declared.
