ETISALAT throws the tab market open in Africa

Etisalat Nigeria in partnership with Samsung Electronics West Africa, last week held teeming Nigerian mobile subscribers spell-bound at the Souther Sun Hotels, Ikoyi Lagos, introducing the Samsung Galaxy tab into the Nigerian market.

The launch, marked the take-off of the Galaxy tab in Africa and is expected to throw open severe competition in tab market across the continent.

The company said it had decided to team up with Samsung in choosing Nigeria as first stop for the product launch, to show recognition of the importance of the Nigerian market and highlight more, the value Etisalat brings to the table in terms of innovation, quality and customer focus.

The Galaxy tab meets the needs of the upwardly mobile and dynamic business executives whose lives would be enhanced by using the available innovative services this device offers even as it comes with a free bundled data, text and voice plan for 12 months on Etisalat platform.

Samsung Galaxy Tab is a new smart media device that allows users to enjoy PC_like web browsing, e_mail_on_the_go, voice and SMS functionality, social network updates on_the_go, video call and other smart device functionality with an optimized user interface.

The new product is a 7 inch device with android operating system 2.2 which combines all the functionalities of a personal computer and a mobile phone convenient form  factor.

Presenting the new product to the media, Samsung Nigeria Director HHP (SEWA), Fady Khatib, explained that the Galaxy Tab is a true mobile device that is comfortable to carry around and use on the move or enjoy while relaxing on the couch at home.

“It’s a perfect device for working smarter, watching movies, reading an ebook, catching up on your favorite TV shows or even chatting with an old friend. The Tab’s design is so sleek that it would fit very easily into most jacket and trouser pockets”, Khatib explained.

But for Etisalat Chief Commercial Officer, Wael Ammar the introduction of the new device in partnership with Samsung Electronics is further entrenchment of Etisalat’s position as leader in delivery of innovative services and world_class products.

According to him, “Etisalat thrives on innovation. “Our technological partnership with Samsung is another key first in the Nigerian market. We are very committed to raising the bar in product and service delivery to our customers in the Nigerian market”.

Explaining the details of the partnership with Samsung on the Galaxy Tab, Ammar explained that the Tab comes with an Etisalat SIM card which offers 25min of free voice calls, 25 free SMS and 250MB free data access every month for 12 months.

Subscribers begin to enjoy all these freebies as soon as they purchase the Samsung Galaxy tablet with the Etisalat bundle which comes with automatic credit on the first day of every month.

Subscribers to the EtisalatiSamsung Galaxy tablet bundle will have the opportunity to top up their account and still make voice calls or send SMS after they may have exhausted the Bundle.
