BENIN CITY — THE new Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. David Omojola, yesterday, resumed duties in the state, declaring that the police in the state would embark seriously on covert operations to stem the activities of kidnappers and cultists in the state.
The new police boss, who was deployed to the state from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, acknowledged that the activities of kidnappers in the state were worrisome and vowed that the state command would adopt several means to stop their activities in the state.
“I want to say that we are going to embark on intelligence-led policing, so that we can get to the root of the matter. We are going to make use of our CIB (Criminal Investigation Bureau) men, police divisions. We are all going to work in harmony to ensure proper police service delivery to the people. We can only achieve this when there is reduction in the number of such terrible crimes.
“I was informed that some suspected kidnappers were arrested and I want to assure the people of the state that we will do thorough investigation, whoever is found culpable will be charged to court,” he said.
We are going to adopt the same approach to all the violent crimes, including cultism. We need to gather intelligence and also appeal to members of the public to give us useful information. We are not going to rest on our oars, we will be proactive. We are going to carry the battle to them and make sure we stop them in this state” he asserted.
Mr Omojola was the Commandant Detective College, at the police College Oji River before he was deplored to the Force Headquarters.
