Enugu—Arrangements are in top gear for the 3rd Enugu Christmas Shopping Festival and Carnival by Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA, an official has said.
The fair, scheduled for December 3-13 in the coal city, will take place at the permanent site of Enugu International Trade Fair on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
Mr Emeka Okereke, the Director-General of ECCIMA, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Enugu on that work was in progress at the site.
He added that the work included clearing and updating the facilities.
“This year’s fair is action-packed with a variety of activities. Beyond the normal shopping, we have added cultural entertainment in form of carnival to ginger people into the festive period,’’ Okereke said.
The DG said the chamber was working with an event management team based in Lagos for the carnival.
He said Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State would unveil the festival.
“The shopping festival and carnival will set Enugu agog, provide great opportunities for manufacturers and service providers to enhance their marketing and sales.
“It will also provide the platform for families, fun seekers and lovers of entertainment, unique and veritable opportunity and bring back good old memories for the oldies,’’ he said.
On security, Okereke said the chamber would work with the police and civil defence corps to ensure adequate security.
He also said the chamber was collaborating with the Coal City Shuttle and other transport companies to ensure ease of movement to and from the venue.
