DPP counters Bafarawa over resignation

Sokoto—The Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, in Sokoto State has debunked the claims by the former Presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa that he left it for the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, with all his supporters, stating that the DPP in the state was intact and remained resolute.

Reacting to a letter of resignation dated October 27th 2010 addressed to the National Chairman of the party and a press statement published in the Leadership newspaper of October 28th 2010, Chairman of the DPP in Sokoto State, Alhaji Umaru Kwabo during a press briefing in Sokoto stated that the party was intact.

According to him, “We wish to notify the general public that DPP in Sokoto State is intact and remains resolute in the pursuit of its electoral mandate and reaffirms its support to its gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi in the on-going election petition at the Court of Appeal, Sokoto whose judgement is being awaited.”

Kwabo further stated that the state Chairman and other executive members of the party, as well as the local government and ward officials were intact and remained committed to the cause of the DPP.

“The general public should note that the DPP gubernatorial candidate in the 2007 and 2008 re-run elections, as well as the state chairman and all other executives of the state, local government and ward levels are intact and remain committed to the cause of the DPP,” he said.

Kwabo appealed to the teeming members and supporters of the party to continue to support and pray for the success of the party.
