Delta sets up c’ttee on constructive engagement

ASABA—The Acting Governor of Delta State, Prince Sam Obi, has set up a  team saddled with the responsibility of engaging in constructive dialogue with all people of the state.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Oma Djebah, in a statement, said the Acting Governor constituted the team to ensure that the peace, security and stability of the state was maintained and enhanced ahead of the re-run election ordered by the Court of Appeal.

The Committee is expected to reach out to Deltans from all walks of life as a way of building a strong, united and formidable rallying point for the people, irrespective of shades of opinions.

According to the statement, the Acting Governor stressed the need for stability and unity among Deltans from all shades of opinions, noting that concerted efforts must be made to eschew tension and bitterness in the polity “as all Deltans have a collective destiny to achieve a greater state of our dreams, both now and in the future.”

The team is made up of elders, leaders, and community mobilizers from different parts of the state and  include two former Deputy Governors, Chief B. Elue and Sir Simeon Ebonka; former Minister of Information, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire; former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo; Senator Stella Omu; former Minister of State, Agriculture, Chief Chris Agbobu; and Prof. B. Ijeoma.

Others are Chief Mike Adiotomre, a leader of thought, Mr  Terry Noah former Commissioner in the State; and Sir G. Gbaragada, a leader of thought.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Oma Djebah and former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Festus Okubor have been appointed to serve as Secretaries to the committee which has two weeks to turn in its report.
