AWKA—ANAMBRA High Court, sitting in  Ekwulobia, has sacked two parallel executive  committees of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, in Anambra State.

It also granted an interim order for members of the dissolved executives to stop parading themselves as executive members of the party’s state chapter, just as it urged the PDP National Working Committee and Independent Electoral Commission,INEC, to stop recognizing them.

The judgments were delivered Tuesday by Justice B.N. Nwankwo in two separate suits filed and argued in the court.

In the case pertaining to the Benji Udeozor-led executive, the plaintiff Mr. Chinedu Unegbu, challenged the party membership of Udeozor and members of his executive, just as he maintained that the purported congress that brought the factional PDP executive, led by Chief Emma Nweze, was a farce, and that no congresses were conducted as required by the PDP constitution

The plaintiff argued that Udeozor and his members were not eligible to hold offices under the PDP constitution, having decamped to, and worked for the Labour Party in less than one year ago.

It was further argued that even if they returned, they could not hold offices without the 12 month probation period, unless granted a waiver by the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party.

The court however asked the PDP National Working Committee or its NEC and the INEC to stop recognizing, or in any way dealing with them pending the determination of the Motion on Notice.

Hearings on the suits have been fixed for November 30, and December 2nd, 2010 respectively.
